More food :)

Trying to be healthy while in school!

Since I started taking pictures of my dinner, I've felt more committed to eating healthy... Here's the past meals I've cooked, and I'll add more later!

 The Vietnamese crepe...

Chicken with balsamic and garlic, butter! mashed potatoes (left over from yesterday) and spring veggies and peppercorn seasoning

(From Salsa Blanca - the Super Burrito!) - not so healthy ;)

Who is "Today's Podiatrist?"

APMA's latest video promoting podiatric medicine is racking up hits on YouTube! The three-minute video, filmed entirely at APMA's Annual Scientific Meeting in Toronto, Canada in August, features APMA member podiatrists and podiatric medical students "testifying" about what they like best about their careers in podiatric medicine.

Featuring the theme of "Today's Podiatrist," the video is designed to introduce students considering careers in health care to podiatric medicine. It includes down-to-earth, heartfelt comments that give undergraduate students an overview of why to choose this profession. It also offers sage advice, such as shadowing a DPM in practice, to students considering podiatry. Highlighted are student delegates from the American Podiatric Medical Students' Association (APMSA) and APMA podiatrists from across the country. You can view the video on the APMA Web site(www.apma.org/careers) or on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvDu7oeAzRE). You can also contact directly by clicking here.

Whef, Podiatry school is FLYING!

This is only my second week, and I'm about to take my 2nd test! I think I'm covering more material in one week than I did in about 1/2 a semester in undergrad! Anyways, thought this article/email was interesting, and I certainly wouldn't want my classes ran this way!

Brilliance point. What a perfect lesson to learn for all of us.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before,
but had once failed an entire class.
--------------------------------------------
That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK,
we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D!
No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering,
blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Beauty Tips

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

Vitamins for the Mind by Jim Rohn

Values by Jim Rohn

The major value in life is not what you get. The major value in life is what you become. That is why I wish to pay fair price for every value. If I have to pay for it or earn it, that makes something of me. If I get it for free, that makes nothing of me.

All values must be won by contest, and after they have been won, they must be defended.

Don't sell out your virtue and your value for something you think you want. Judas got the money, but he threw it all away and hung himself because he was so unhappy with himself.

Values were meant to be costly. If it doesn't cost much, we probably wouldn't appreciate the value.

Count the cost first. Don't pay too big a price for pursuing minor values.

Seeds of Greatness by Denis Waitley

Take A Moment
(This excerpt was taken from Denis Waitley's The Seeds of Greatness Treasury)

Take a moment to listen today
to what your children are trying to say,
Listen to them, whatever you do
or they won't be there to listen to you.

Listen to their problems, listen to their needs
Praise their smallest triumphs, praise their littlest deeds;
Tolerate their chatter, amplify their laughter,
Find out what's the matter, find out what they're after.

If we tell our children all the bad in them we see,
They'll grow up exactly how we hoped they'd never be;
But if we tell our children we're so proud to wear their name,
They'll grow up believing that they're winners in the game.

So tell them that you love them every single night;
And though you scold them make sure you hold them
and tell them they're all right, "Good night, happy dreams,
Tomorrow's looking bright."

Take a moment to listen today to what
your children are trying to say
Listen to them whatever you do, and
They'll be there to listen to you.
